There is a common perception that guanxi is a fundamental ingredient of Chinese business networks. Like trusting relationships with business partners and other actors in the Eastern political and economic scenario, these special contacts are considered indispensable for success in business initiatives. But is this really the case? A recent study calls into question the most consolidated stereotypes on guanxi, providing five important lessons for both the East and the West.
