Tourism Becomes Ever More Rainbow
Today, the LGBTQ segment embraces 3 percent of more than a billion international travelers, and travel spending generated by LGBTQ travelers coming from the main markets is around 219 billion dollars per year.#Travelers in this segment are traditionally oriented towards LGBTQ friendly destinations, such as large American and European cities. However, in mature outbound markets, we are seeing an increase of interest towards smaller and off-the-beaten track destinations, and destinations seen as more “adventurous”.#However, the LGBTQ segment is very differentiated: for example, in terms of generation and gender. LGBTQ families show different tendencies, being more oriented towards child friendly, rather than LGBT friendly destinations.
