Born in the 1950s with the idea of increasing agricultural productivity and protecting producers and consumers, the structure of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) was recently rethought from the perspective of social, environmental, and economic sustainability, with the intent of modifying the entire European and extra-European food system from a green standpoint.#Among the most ambitious points of the new CAP, for which 36.8 billion euros have already been allocated for direct payments and 12.4 billion euros for rural development, there are the needs to: reduce the use of phytosanitary products by 50 percent, reduce the use of fertilizers by 20 percent, and reach a percentage value of organic agriculture in EU countries of 25 percent.#The growing need for food products requires Europe to rethink all elements of equilibrium of agribusiness, even only to guarantee the development and innovation (increasingly important elements to continue to produce) of all companies in the sector (from production to retail).
