Gender Parity: the Necessary Investment
To ensure that the (few) steps forward taken in recent years to promote gender parity don't disappear in the face of the pandemic emergency, public policies are necessary that accelerate progress towards gender parity, supporting women's participation in the labor market and their presence in decision-making positions. Broader assistance for childcare and the extension of paternity leave can improve female employment rates and promote sharing between men and women within the home, de facto accelerating progress towards gender parity. As we have seen in recent years in particular, greater presence of women in decision-making positions, in the worlds of both work and politics, contributes to designing a more favorable agenda for gender parity.
