More Light in the World of the Homeless
Poverty has more than one face and its characteristics often change depending on the social emergency at hand. Migratory crises, the Covid-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and the energy crisis are generating new situations of economic emergency, destined to create further poverty. Poverty can often result from factors ranging from a lack of adequate income and employment to a lack of social shock absorbers. The alarming data concerns the increase in extreme poverty and homelessness. How do territorial services operate? What kind of assistance can they offer today? What obstacles must a homeless person face in order to access existing forms of social protection?
