AI and Strategy: Adoption and Prospects in Italian Companies
Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly widespread in companies, but its role in strategy development remains underexplored. A survey of 375 Italian companies shows that three in ten use AI to support strategic decisions, particularly in developing and evaluating alternatives. The main barriers concern skills and organizational culture, while larger companies are more advanced in integrating AI. The challenge is therefore not merely technological: it involves rethinking decision-making processes and developing governance models in which AI and managerial judgment complement one another.
